AT & T Launches First Napster Equipped Phone - Samsung SLM
AT&T's first mobile phone to bring Napster Mobile will come as Samsung SLM (SGH-A747). The device will make it possible to search a music catalog of 5 million songs, preview samples of each song and purchase and download songs at great
speeds.
AT&T subscribers will be able to use this mobile phone to buy and download songs the mobile way. Moreover, the Samsung SLM will also support the full AT&T Mobile Music suite of services, including XM Radio Mobile, Pandora, MusicID song-recognition service and VIP access, a mobile fan club and music-discovery service. All this should make it a handset capable of bringing a great music experience to its owner.
There is also stereo Bluetooth included for listening to music free of any wires and an external memory microSD card support. There is also a 2 megapixel camera included, although this should be of less importance, as Samsung SLM is a music phone and not a camera one. The 3G technology that this device also packs is essential for downloading songs in just a few seconds.
The operator included this device into its offer, just in time for the Christmas season, to make it a fun gift. "The SLM by Samsung represents the best collection thus far of our music, multimedia and messaging services -- just in time for the holidays," said Carlton Hill, vice president of Product Development for AT&T's wireless unit.
The device will bring a large number of services, aside from the Napster Mobile one. The Samsung SGH-A747 SLM phone will also be the first handset to have AT&T's mobile banking application pre-loaded. Moreover, the device is also capable of supporting AT&T's Video Share service.
Samsung SGH-A747 SLM will be available from now on at AT&T for the price of USD 150 with a two-year contract and a USD 50 mail-in rebate.
