A Colorful 5800, But With Less Inside - The Nokia 5230, A Budget Touchscreen Phone

NEW DELHI, India & ESPOO, Finland – Nokia has just popped open its paint pot and pulled out the new Nokia 5230 in a range of custom colours. The latest handset to join the touchscreen fold, the Nokia 5230 has been designed to serve up slick on-the-go entertainment, location-based services and act as an easy pocket portal for social networking at low cost.
Brandishing a 3.2-inch widescreen touch display with full-screen QWERTY keyboard and handwriting recognition, the Nokia 5230 is geared up to enable you to rattle out messages at speed.
Paired with speedy HSDPA connectivity, this means staying in the loop and keeping your Facebook and Twitter streams promises to be a no-wait affair.
Ovi Store is nestled neatly on the homescreen from the moment you switch on the device, ensuring you can get instant anywhere access to quality bite-size apps.
Music is its first love though, with the 5230 bringing 33 hours of playback time (long battery life was recently voted the most important feature in a music phone by you guys – so we’re stoked to see that), a 3.5mm headphone jack and memory expandable up to 16GB via a microSD card.
Two versions of the phone will launch – a standard device costing 149 Euros, and in some select areas a Comes With Music version will be available for 259 Euros for those keen on all-you-can-eat downloads.
Jo Harlow is Vice President at Nokia, and had this to say about today’s news of the upcoming 5230:
“Competitively priced at 149 Euros, we believe the Nokia 5230 is an unbeatable offer for many new customers who aspire a device that stars in music, mingles with social networks from Facebook to MySpace, navigates you to where it happens, when it happens, and comes in array of dazzling colors”
Other features include assisted-GPS with Ovi Maps, Nokia’s new Contacts bar on the homescreen, a 2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth 2.0.

Nokia Comes Out With Its Netbook: 12 Hour Battery Life, 10 Inch Glass HD Display, Aluminum Body

Joining the current netbook race, Nokia has just announced the Booklet 3G Mini Laptop:
"The new Nokia Booklet 3G will be a Windows-based machine, supported by an efficient Intel Atom processor that promises the performance of a full-function PC. It’s efficiency credentials are boldly punctuated with battery life that stretches up to 12 hours (with normal daily use, of course – don’t expect a 12-hour Quake-fest off a single hit of juice)."
"Turning our attention to mini matters of a tape-measure nature, the Nokia Booklet 3G comes toting a glass 10.1-inch HD display (it has an HDMI port for HD video out). This lives within its smart aluminium shell which measures in at just 2cm thin and tips the scales at around a kilogram to ensure it’s extremely portable."
"Connecting at speed is crucial with a product of this nature, so the Booklet 3G has been designed with fast downloading and uploading front of mind – it’s 3G/HSPA ready for rapid mobile broadband anywhere-access on the move. Wi-Fi has also been wedged into it’s slim body. Plus, it supports hot-swappable SIM card functionality."
"It’s talents don’t end there, with Nokia’s mini laptop PC also featuring onboard assisted-GPS with Ovi Maps neatly sat in the passenger seat. There’s a single front-facing camera nestled above the 10.1-inch HD screen for video chat, with Bluetooth and a built-in SD card reader also making appearances."

First Look Review: Nokia's N900 or RX-51 - 'Feels Like the iPhone'

Running on the Maemo platform, the upcoming N900 or RX-51 gets a hands-on by Mobile-Review's Eldar.
Here are just some of his positive comments on the phone:
"Due to variety of visual effects, smooth transitions and decent reaction time of the touch screen (which is a significant improvement over the Nokia N97), the N900 feels more like the Apple iPhone. At the same time its UI looks nothing like that of the iPhone - it's just different, but eye-candy nonetheless (maybe somewhat similar to HTC's products). Everyone who had a chance to play with it noted that it didn't look like any other Nokia-branded device, yet it was an enjoyable experience overall."
"The phone’s 800x480 pixel resistive screen (pretty responsive, by the way) is great for watching videos and the kickstand mounted on the N900 only helps the experience."
"But what I can say for now is that it's the true mobile powerhouse in every sense of this word, that comes wrapped in a very eye-candy and functional UI at that."
